Data Connector
In March, I flew to Leuven for my third hackathon. This time, I was the captain of our three-person team. If you had told me that back during my first hackathon -when I could barely keep up- I would not have believed you. But here we are.
The big news is DCDC 2.0 -the DataCamp Data Connector. It is a complete rewrite of how our B2B clients access their data, and it is the biggest project I have ever owned. I built the metric tables (group detail, user engagement detail, track engagement detail), wrote the documentation in Gitbook, created sample queries for clients, and gave a presentation to the team. It was a lot of work, and I am thrilled with how it turned out.
There is a thread in this journey that I find a bit poetic. Back in August 2022, I signed up for a dbt course at CoRise because I wanted to understand how it worked. I ran models on a Snowflake instance and thought it was the coolest thing. Now, almost three years later, I am doing a dbt proof of concept at work -building production models in a professional setting. From taking a course to building the real thing. That is the power of sticking with it.
I have also been working on the SSOT audit, Activity Dashboard V2, and an analysis of Databricks and Snowflake usage. The workload is heavier than ever, but it feels good. It feels like the kind of heavy that means you are trusted.
I am grateful to Jorge for giving me the opportunity to lead DCDC 2.0. And to the team for all the support along the way. I am not “Level 0” anymore, but I am still learning every single day.
